What is Reiki?
Reiki is an alternative therapy that’s often referred to as energy healing. Originating in Japan thousands of years ago, its name comes from the Japanese words “rei, ”which means universal, and “ki,” which means life energy.
The principle behind Reiki is that energy can stagnate in areas of the body where there’s been physical injury or emotional pain. Over time, this blocked energy can cause illness.
How is Reiki performed?
Using different hand shapes and positions, a licensed Reiki therapist places their hands lightly over specific areas of your body for usually two to five minutes. This allows the transfer of energy to take place until the therapist senses that the energy has stopped flowing. As an energy medicine, Reiki promotes the flow of energy and removes blocks in much the same way as Acupuncture.
How we use Reiki to help you.
We incorporate Reiki into each treatment from beginning to the end. Much like Tui Na, Reiki is another ideal complement to Acupuncture that focuses on specific areas where you have discomfort to restore the flow of vital energy or qi.
Beyond restoring the flow of qi, Reiki also helps soften muscles and tissues so that circulation is fully restored. Circulation allows fresh oxygenated blood to flow to the tissues to promote your healing. This is why Reiki is effective for pain relief.
