What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is a type of alternative therapy and a primary component of traditional Chinese medicine that uses tiny, thin needles. These needles are skillfully inserted into your skin at strategic points to alleviate pain, manage stress, and to promote overall wellness.

How does Acupuncture work?

Acupuncture works through neurohormonal pathways. The practice involves inserting needles through specific points in the body to stimulate the nerve. The nerve then sends signals to the brain, and the brain releases natural healing hormones, such as beta-Endorphins.

How does Acupuncture work to relieve pain?

The fine needles are inserted into your skin at specific “acupoints” that trigger the brain to release endorphins, which are your body’s natural pain-killing chemicals. Acupuncture also effectively works with the part of your brain that regulates serotonin, another brain chemical that impacts your mood.

What to expect and benefit from during each session.

Each session is approximately 55 minutes, depending on what modalities must be paired with the Acupuncture. Your 7 Stones treatment is actually a blend of the many different techniques that serve to enhance the treatment, such as Tui Na, Reiki, Qi Gong, Japanese Shiatsu, or Orthopedic Acupuncture techniques.

Your treatment is tailored to you, regardless of your issues. Why? So that you remember what it’s like to feel good in your body, be more self-aware, and listen to your body’s cues as to when you need treatment.
